If you’re living in Ambler, Blue Bell or Lower Gwynedd and you’re unhappy with your smile, Dr. Lana Waibel is here to help. At Nova Dental, our team specializes in cosmetic care. With durable, natural-looking porcelain veneers and a customized treatment plan, you can cover imperfections in your smile and feel great about how you look.
Veneers are a cosmetic dental treatment made of thin, porcelain shells designed to cover the front surfaces of your teeth and any imperfections you may feel self-conscious about. Depending on your needs and treatment plan, you can get one or several veneers to achieve the smile you want.
Veneers are extremely versatile, making them a great choice if you have multiple cosmetic problems with your smile. They can be used to treat:
The best veneers are made of porcelain ceramic materials, which are very similar to tooth enamel in both strength and appearance. With proper care, they typically last at least 10-15 years.
The best reason to get porcelain veneers is to restore your self-confidence. If you’re not comfortable with how your smile looks, you may feel embarrassed when speaking, smiling, laughing or even eating among others. Veneers let you restore your smile quickly, and feel great about how you look.
In addition, veneers are very durable, long-lasting, and easy to maintain. Porcelain veneers will never become stained. To care for them, all you need to do is brush twice a day for two minutes, floss once a day, and see Dr. Waibel every six months for a cleaning and oral exam.
After you’re approved for veneers, it usually takes two appointments over a span of about 2-3 weeks to complete treatment. At your first appointment, Dr. Waibel will begin by cleaning and numbing your mouth. Then, she will remove a thin layer of enamel (about the thickness of a veneer) from each tooth that is to be treated. This makes room for the veneer and provides a better surface for the veneer to adhere to. Next, she will take images and dental impressions of your teeth, and apply a set of temporary veneers to protect your teeth while you wait for your permanent veneers.
Your images and impressions will be sent to a dental lab, where your veneers will be made. Once they arrive at our office (usually in about 2-3 weeks) we’ll schedule your second appointment. Dr. Waibel will check your veneers to make sure they fit properly, then bond each one into place. Your veneers will be polished and buffed, and you can start enjoying your new smile!
Veneers can be used to treat some minor orthodontic imperfections like gaps in your smile and slightly crooked teeth. But if you have any major issues with your bite or your tooth alignment, veneers may not be right for you.
While veneers are versatile, they are not a replacement for orthodontic correction. If Dr. Waibel finds that you have major orthodontic problems, she may recommend that you have orthodontic treatment before you get veneers. This will ensure that your teeth are properly aligned. Once your orthodontic treatment has concluded, you can get veneers, and get the perfect smile you deserve.
